Cut-price training for young drivers

18 March 2010

Training that helps 17-25 year olds become better drivers is being subsidised by Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership.

A £50 discount is available to young drivers in Derbyshire who sign up for advanced driver training with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) or the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

Partnership manager Robert Hill said: “Life is tough for young drivers - on today’s busy roads one in five drivers crash within 12 months of passing their test. Advanced driver training can help you stay safe and could drive down your insurance costs.

"Anyone who holds a full driving licence can learn to become an advanced driver. During training, you’ll learn how to spot hazards and handle your car with greater confidence whether you’re driving in town, in the countryside or on the motorway."
