Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership has welcomed the removal of pre-published questions from the driving theory test.
Until now the test Q&As have been available in the official theory test guide but the Driving Standards Agency has decided to stop publishing them. A new set of questions have been introduced into the test this month and they will not feature in future editions of the DSA’s theory test guide.
The latest theory test guide - which was published in September last year – features practice questions designed to help candidates understand the areas of theory that the test will cover.
Partnership chairman Mike Ashworth said: “Drivers need to understand the rules of the road in order to stay safe.
“This move by the DSA should encourage candidates to learn each topic area thoroughly because they will no longer be able to simply memorise questions and answers.”
The DSA’s latest theory test guide includes a new section featuring case studies that learners can use to apply their knowledge to real-life driving situations. The agency has also launched its first iPhone app for theory test revision, which will help candidates to study and monitor their progress as they approach their test date.
